This 2006 Albemarle 280XF is a purpose-built sportfish with twin Volvo Penta D4225 diesel engines producing 450 horsepower. The starboard engine was replaced in October 2025 after an intercooler inspection revealed saltwater intrusion and piston damage; the port engine has 1,080 hours with a recent 1,000-hour service completed the same month. The boat runs on straight drive configuration and achieves speeds to 29 knots with a cruising speed of 20 knots.
The fishing layout is fully equipped for serious anglers. Twin Simrad NSS Evo2 chartplotters with Navionics and an ethernet network form the navigation core, supported by a BSM-2 sonar module and Airmar through-hull transducer. The cockpit features Lee outriggers rigged for three lines with roller trollers on the mid-riggers, a Taco 8-foot center rigger on a fold-down bracket, seven 30-degree and four 90-degree rod holders, and six rocket launchers. Additional rod storage lines the gunnel and cabin. Two large fishboxes—one transom-mounted and one on the center deck—handle the catch, while a live well sits behind the helm. A six-drawer rigging station and tackle storage on the port bulkhead keep gear organized.
Below, the boat offers modest overnight accommodations with a berth that converts to a bed and a table, supported by air conditioning and heating in the salon. The enclosed head has a blackwater tank, and a freshwater tank supplies the galley, which includes a 12V/115V refrigerator and microwave. Shore power connections with cable are installed.
Recent work includes new bolster pads with engraved detailing added in 2026, fresh bottom paint, and a complete hull detail. An Eisenglass full enclosure with three roll-up windows and a roll-up rear center window was installed in 2024. The boat rides on a trailer and includes a windlass and navigation lights.
