The 2006 American Tug AT-34 is a 34-foot trawler designed for extended cruising and serious offshore capability. Built on a fiberglass hull, she combines the comfort and livability of a pilothouse cruiser with the rugged seakeeping performance of a working trawler. Power comes from a single Cummins QSB 5.9 diesel engine rated at 425 horsepower, running direct drive to the propeller with 4,700 hours logged. The yacht cruises efficiently at displacement speeds around 8 knots and reaches up to 16 knots when needed, with a 15-foot clearance to the mast that suits inland waterway transit.
Accommodations include a spacious stateroom with queen berth, a generous head with separate shower stall, and a bright salon and galley featuring large windows. The pilothouse offers port and starboard deck access and houses the main control station. Storage includes a foredeck hatch, deck boxes, and below-decks capacity. The yacht carries 400 gallons of fuel, 150 gallons of fresh water, and a 45-gallon holding tank.
Electronics and systems reflect comprehensive cruising readiness: Garmin chartplotter with integrated radar and autopilot, AIS transceiver, VHF radio, and backup compass. A Northern Lights 6.5-kilowatt generator supports full hotel loads. The electrical system includes recent LiFePO4 house batteries, inverter, battery charger, dual 30-amp shore power connections, and solar panels with Bluetooth monitoring. The gearbox underwent rebuild in March 2022; the propeller shaft seal was renewed in March 2024 with a spare on hand.
Mechanical systems show thorough maintenance: hydraulic steering, air conditioning and heating in two zones, dual Racor fuel filters with monitoring, electric head, and bowthruster. Deck gear includes electric windlass, 42-pound anchor with chain and bridle system, electric dinghy davit, and a 2018 AB Hurricanes RIB dinghy with electric outboard. Recent work includes new zincs and bottom paint in March 2024, plus oil changes and valve service documented for 2026. Owner and equipment manuals and numerous spare parts are included.
