This 49-foot cold-molded schooner was designed by Chuck Burns and built by Covey Island Boat Works for serious ocean sailing. The design draws from proven racing experience—the original sister ship competed in the 1986 TransPac Ocean Race and has continued racing competitively for decades. Sir Edmund herself raced in the 2025 TransPac, finishing second in class. The hull and rigging are configured for efficient double-handed sailing, making her practical for long ocean passages with a small crew.
The yacht accommodates two cabins and one head. She is powered by a single 40-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, with a cruising speed of 6 knots and maximum speed of 7 knots under power. The schooner rig and 13-foot beam support her design as a capable ocean cruiser with strong sailing performance.
