2007 Gorbon Custom Downeast 40

This 2007 Gorbon Custom Downeast 40 is a purpose-built yacht combining traditional Downeast design with modern capability. Built by the Turkish builder to exacting standards, the boat features a fiberglass hull with foam-cored topsides, a solid laminate bottom, and a vinylester osmosis barrier. Two Volvo Penta IPS 450 diesel engines deliver 680 horsepower and cruise at 24 knots with a top speed of 30 knots. The twin IPS pods are controlled via joystick, enabling single-handed operation.

The layout centers on a pilothouse with an innovative hinged aft bulkhead that opens the helm area directly to the cockpit and interior, transforming the space into one continuous cabin. The pilothouse includes chart table and helm seating with ice maker beneath. Forward lies a generously proportioned galley with U-shaped counter, refrigerator, freezer, and two-burner cooktop, opening to the main cabin. A private stateroom with double berth sits to port, with an enclosed head to port and separate shower to starboard. Multiple convertible settees and day beds provide additional sleeping capacity throughout.

The boat carries refinements throughout: varnished mahogany cabinetry, flawless teak decking and brightwork, air conditioning and heating via central system, a Seakeeper 5 gyroscope, and a central vacuum system. Entertainment features a disappearing television with Bose stereo system zoned across three areas. The galley is outfitted with Force 10 cooktop, Sharp microwave, and Isotherm refrigeration and freezer. Navigation includes Raymarine chartplotter, radar, GPS, tridata, autopilot, and wind instruments, along with VHF radio and searchlight.

The boat has been substantially upgraded over its life: topsides were awlgripped in 2018, deck in 2020, engines and drives were replaced with new Volvo IPS units in 2019, and a Seakeeper was installed in 2022. Batteries were refreshed in 2020. The generator has 177 hours and engines carry 203 hours as of August 2025. Standard equipment includes bow thruster with joystick control, windlass, and complete safety and docking gear.
