The Young 20 Bay is a 20-foot sportfish designed around a spacious cockpit fishing platform that measures 6'10" by 8'1" with sides over 20 inches high—a significant advantage over conventional flats boats. The boat achieves this open layout without sacrificing performance or aesthetics through a distinctive reverse sheer line that serves as a structural stiffener while creating higher freeboard. Power comes from a single 250-horsepower Evinrude gasoline engine capable of 50 knots.

The hull is built using hand-laminated knitted fiberglass with lightweight resins and premium gelcoats engineered for durability and color retention. The V-bottom design features a sharp entry, full-width reversed chines to deflect spray, and deep running strakes for lift and control. At 8 feet of beam, the boat delivers side-to-side stability and shallow draft while maintaining a balanced design that requires minimal trim adjustment and planes quickly.

Construction throughout emphasizes durability and dry operation. Decks, cockpits, and hatches are cored with closed-cell foam, while full-height stringers and transoms use high-density structural composite bonded into the hull during the mold cure process—a five to seven day cycle that ensures structural integrity. The hull, deck, cockpit, and stringer system are assembled as a single integrated unit. All storage compartments and live wells are plumbed overboard with shutoff valves to keep the bilge area dry, and all wiring and fuel hoses are sleeved in PVC for protection. A dedicated below-console compartment houses trolling motor batteries, keeping weight low and preserving console storage space.
