2008 Custom 214' Ultra Fast Cat Ropax Ferry
About This Yacht
This 214-foot aluminum catamaran ferry was built by Austal in 2008 as a high-speed RoPax design. The hull employs an efficient design for record-breaking performance while meeting demanding weight targets. Four MTU 20-cylinder 1163 series diesel engines produce 6,500 kW each, driving Rolls-Royce Kamewa water jets to deliver a maximum speed of 55 knots and a service speed of 48 knots—approximately 20 percent faster than conventional fast ferries. The yacht meets Det Norske Veritas and IMO HSC Code requirements.
The boat accommodates 208 passengers and a crew of 12. The main vehicle deck carries 56 cars or 54 truck lane meters plus 34 additional cars, with a clear height of 3.1 meters. The aft main deck handles axle loads to 12 tons on dual wheels and 9 tons on single wheels, while the remainder of the deck supports 3-ton axle loads. Fuel capacity is 44,000 liters, and two MAN auxiliary engines support hotel and operational systems.
The catamaran is equipped with a helicopter landing facility suitable for medium-class aircraft, enabling it to support search and rescue and medical evacuation operations. This helideck space could be converted to additional passenger capacity if required. The yacht is classed with Det Norske Veritas.
