2008 Custom Carolina CUSTOM CAROLINA

This 2008 Custom Carolina is a 20-foot center console sport fisherman built to the Ocracoke 20 design by B&B Yacht Designs. Featured in Wooden Boat magazine, the design is known for its striking curves, efficient hull shape, and flat, fast performance. The boat was custom-built in Bayboro, NC and professionally rigged by Mobile East Marine. It features a shallow modified V-bottom with sharp entry, down-sloping running flats at the chines that deliver a smooth, spray-free ride without trim tabs or chine walking on hard turns.

The hull is constructed using half-inch plywood bottom with modified egg crate framing, cold-molded sides using the Ashcroft method with two layers of staggered diagonal plywood planking, and epoxy fiberglass inside and out with 24-ounce biaxial glass. All structural components are epoxy encapsulated. The boat displaces 2,000 pounds at design waterline and weighs just 1,715 pounds with its motor, making it light yet strong. The hull is finished in pastel blue with bright cherry rails and custom gunwale covers with bungee straps protecting cherry bumper rails from stem to stern.

The deck layout includes casting platforms at bow and stern, self-draining scuppers aft, and dedicated compartments port and starboard aft for optional bait tanks. Power comes from a 2006 Honda 90 four-stroke engine, delivering 36.5 knots maximum speed and 26 knots cruising at four gallons per hour. Twin 25-gallon fuel tanks with independent fills sit below deck, ABYC and Coast Guard approved. A custom T-Top with Stamoid cover by Tarheel Towers provides shade, and hydraulic steering is standard. Electronics include VHF radio with GPS wiring, plus two new batteries.

The boat was lightly used locally in the Bay River area and consistently maintained. It was either kept on a covered lift at the owner's dock or stored indoors seasonally. The Honda engine received professional annual service. A Magic Tilt dual-axle trailer with surge brakes is included.
