2008 Herreshoff Full-Keel Buzzards Bay 15

This is a 2008 full-keel Buzzards Bay 15 built by Artisan Boatworks to Nathanael Herreshoff's enhanced 1906 design. The boat combines the classic lines of Herreshoff's original one-design with structural and sailing improvements: a deeper keel, increased scantlings throughout, a raised shear, and a lengthened cockpit. The mast diameter was enlarged to eliminate running backstays, and a self-tacking jib club was added. The result is a responsive daysailer that remains strong, comfortable, and capable in varied conditions while retaining the elegant appearance of the Buzzards Bay 15.

The hull is carvel cedar planking, edge-epoxy glued and fastened over steam-bent frames and a laminated mahogany backbone. This modern construction technique eliminated the need for traditional cotton caulking, substantially reducing maintenance demands compared to conventional wooden boat construction.

The boat includes a 2008 Triad trailer, a Nat Wilson mainsail and jib in light-use condition, tan Sunbrella sail covers, quick-release Amsteel running backstays, Fortress anchor with rode, Shaw & Tenny boat hook and canoe paddle, docklines, fenders, and four life preservers. The boat has been professionally maintained and stored under cover since launch.
