2008 Luhrs 28 Open

The 2008 Luhrs 28 Open is a diesel-powered sportfishing express built on a fiberglass hull and powered by twin Yanmar 6BY260 turbo diesels, each producing 260 horsepower. With a cruising speed of approximately 20–24 knots and a top speed near 30 knots, the boat combines the efficiency and range of diesel power with the redundancy that twin engines provide. Recent major mechanical work includes new ZF45 transmissions, a new fuel tank, new props, and new Racor fuel filters—the kind of significant updates that address high-cost systems early in ownership.

The boat is equipped with a modern Simrad electronics package featuring a Halo radar, dual NSS 12 multifunction displays, and an upper station helm with full controls. Deck equipment is arranged for serious fishing and includes electric downriggers, an electric crab pot puller, a livewell, a transom fish box, and both raw water and freshwater washdowns. A 40-inch LED light bar aids visibility across the working cockpit.

Below deck, the cabin provides genuine accommodations with four bunks, a galley that includes a cooktop, microwave, and refrigerator, and an enclosed head with a shower. Climate control comes from a heat pump with air conditioning, supported by a 6-gallon water heater. The electrical system features a ProMariner three-bank battery charger, 30-amp shore power, and multiple AGM Odyssey batteries. Additional systems updates include new Exalto wiper motors with freshwater sprayers, new bilge pumps, and a new oil changer.

The boat is suitable for offshore salmon, tuna, and halibut fishing, crabbing, and coastal cruising throughout the Pacific Northwest, with the layout and systems supporting both day trips and overnight passages. Maintenance records and a log book are included.
