The 2008 Oyster 72 exemplifies the yard's proven design philosophy, built around Rob Humphreys' hull form that balances performance with forgiving sea-keeping characteristics. Powered by a single 225-horsepower Perkins/Sabre diesel engine, she carries a powerful carbon rig featuring a carbon mast and V-boom with Reckman furlers on both head and staysail, and a fully battened main on a park avenue boom. The rig's design allows confident handling by a small crew, as demonstrated during her recent Caribbean passage when sailed by two people.
The five-cabin layout provides generous accommodation throughout. The owner's suite occupies the aft section, with two additional double cabins and two twin cabins forward. Four of these rooms have en-suite bathrooms; one twin shares facilities with an adjacent double. The raised saloon, characteristic of Oyster's G5 design, floods the main living area with light and connects to a large centrally positioned galley, creating a social and practical hub. Deck and cockpit spaces are equally well proportioned for both anchoring and passage-making.
The yacht's construction incorporates a lead keel, skeg-hung rudder, and watertight bulkheads. Her interior features traditional quarter-sawn teak joinery. Decks were replaced in 2024, and standing rigging was renewed the same year. The white hull is booked for lifting, anti-fouling, and polishing in early 2026.
