This 2008 Protector 38 Tauranga SL is a fiberglass rigid inflatable with twin Mercury Verado 300 engines rated at 600 horsepower. The boat features a deep-V extended keel design—an upgrade that improves ride quality compared to other 38s from this era. The modification proved successful enough that it became standard on newer models.
The deck layout includes full teak surfaces, heavy-duty black tubes, an extended hardtop, and helm seating with LeBroc chairs. A rear full bench seat provides additional accommodation, while boarding ladder access and an under-tube anchoring system with windlass are fitted for convenience and security.
Electronics include a Raymarine C120 suite with autopilot and radar. Additional systems comprise a bow thruster, built-in battery charger, and boarding ladder. The topside received fresh paint in 2019, and bottom paint has been recently applied. The boat has spent time in freshwater since new and has seen light usage throughout its ownership. Engines have been consistently serviced.
