The 2008 Tartan 4300 is a 43-foot cruising sailboat designed by Tim Jackett and built at Tartan Yachts in Ohio. The hull is vacuum-bagged, two-part epoxy laminate with carbon fiber rigging and components, resulting in a lightweight structure resistant to osmosis. A low, streamlined coach house and self-tacking jib support easy handling, while all lines run back to the cockpit for single-handed operation. The uncluttered deck and deep, secure cockpit reflect thoughtful design centered on cruising comfort.
Below deck, the cabin space is notably spacious for the boat's size. The saloon features cherry cabinetry, cream Ultra-Leather upholstery, a flat-screen television, and dimmable lighting. A well-designed U-shaped galley includes a molded double sink on an island-style cabinet with pull-out faucet, dual-access refrigerator (top and front loading), separate top-loading freezer, ample counter and cabinet space, and ventilation. The navigation station occupies a quiet corner with a full-size adult chair rather than a swing-out stool. Forward is an owner's cabin with semi-island queen bed, flat-screen TV with Bose speakers, seating area, and hanging lockers. The aft cabin has a double bed and storage. Both cabins have their own electric freshwater head.
The boat's systems include a Volvo diesel engine, solar panels, a watermaker, lithium batteries, and air conditioning (1,600 BTU). New headsails from North Sails were fitted in March 2025. A nine-foot AB aluminum inflatable with engine and custom covers is included. The boat carries the build quality characteristic of Tartan Yachts, which has maintained continuous operation since 1951.
