The Altena 53 is a steel-hulled trawler with purposeful, robust lines and a substantial build suited to both extended offshore passages and coastal cruising. At 56 feet with a 17-foot beam, the design balances seaworthiness with comfortable accommodations. Twin John Deere diesel engines deliver 350 horsepower combined, enabling a cruising speed of 8 knots and a maximum speed of 10 knots. Active stabilisation is fitted to manage motion in rougher conditions.
The interior features three cabins and two heads, arranged to provide comfort for extended trips with family and friends. The galley is modern and well-equipped, and the saloon and cabin spaces are generously proportioned. Navigation and safety systems are comprehensively specified.
In the winter of 2022–2023, the boat underwent major maintenance addressing both cosmetic and technical aspects. The steel hull, engines, and systems were brought into sound working condition as part of that programme.
