2009 Hinckley Talaria 38R

The 2009 Hinckley Talaria 38R is a composite jet boat built to the maker's exacting standards. Her hull combines Kevlar and E-glass with balsa and Corecell core in a SCRIMP process, finished in red mahogany Awlgrip sides with cream decks and a black bottom. Twin Volvo D6 diesel engines produce 870 horsepower and reach a cruising speed of 27 knots, powered through electronically controlled common-rail systems. A hydraulic bow thruster and Hinckley's JetStick II steering control system manage handling in close quarters.

The open cockpit is arranged around helm and navigator seats upholstered in Spinneybeck Acqua leather, with wrap-around triple settees aft and a generous double sun pad further back. A hydraulically deployed convertible top in Toast fabric covers the helm and majority of cockpit seating. Forward windows are tempered glass with teak trim, and the cockpit features a Garmin 8616 multifunction display, Horizon VHF radio, ST6002 autopilot, and an upgraded Fusion entertainment system with multiple speakers throughout.

Below, a forward cabin in satin-varnished cherry and teak accommodates a V-settee with custom table, galley with Seafrost refrigeration and GE microwave, and a full head with Vacuflush system and separate shower. The cabin is air-conditioned and finished throughout with raised-panel cherry cabinetry and halogen lighting on dimmers.

The boat carries twin 12-volt AGM battery banks totaling 420 amp-hours, three alternators, a 65-amp Master Volt inverter/charger, and a 9-kilowatt Northern Lights genset (1,369 hours). Mechanical systems include multiple bilge pumps, Mylar-faced engine insulation, reverse-cycle heating and air conditioning for cabin and cockpit, and an automatic fire suppression system. A hydraulic windlass with remote control handles anchoring with 25 feet of stainless chain and 150 feet of rode.
