The Catana 85 is a 2010 bluewater cruising catamaran with the classic long-hull design of its era. Built by Catana Group to Bureau Veritas standards and designed by Gilles Vaton, this 85-foot boat combines performance sailing with serious cruising comfort. The slim hulls, daggerboards, and dual helms enable efficient upwind work and confident heavy-weather capability. A powerful sail plan—214 m² mainsail, 110 m² genoa, and 240 m² gennaker—delivers good performance in light wind, while a single IVECO diesel engine provides fuel-efficient motoring and excellent maneuverability.
The interior accommodates four identical double cabins with ensuite bathrooms, plus two bow crew cabins, all finished in Alcantara and quality furnishings. The salon includes a chart table, wood joinery, and Italian glass dining furniture; a full galley runs on shore power and inverter, with separate exterior galley in the cockpit. Amenities include dual freezers, large refrigerator, dishwasher, washer-dryer, and Bose 5.1 audio. A 5.5-meter tender with 40 hp Mercury engine and hydraulic lift complete the setup for remote anchorages.
Recent refits and upgrades support self-sufficient cruising: 4500W solar array with Victron controllers charges a 30 kWh lithium service battery. Dual watermakers, two air-conditioning zones (one newly installed 2025), and twin Webasto heating systems ensure comfort year-round. Raymarine electronics include dual 16 and 9-inch displays, autopilot with redundant hydraulic pumps, radar, VHF, AIS, and Starlink satellite internet.
The boat's engine rooms house the IVECO power plant, dual ZF transmissions with folding propellers, and all major systems duplicated for reliability. Carbon mast and boom by Axxion, Harken hydraulic and manual winches, and HNR sails by Incidence (fitted 2019) complete a well-engineered platform built on quality components throughout.
