The Najad 511 is a bluewater cruising yacht designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co, combining refined performance with the seaworthiness needed for extended ocean passages. Her design emphasizes fine lines and a deep bilge paired with a bolted lead keel and skeg-hung rudder—a configuration that delivers both speed and the stability and directional control essential to offshore sailing. This 2010 example was the final Najad 511 built by the original Najadvarvet and has remained with her first owner, an experienced master mariner.
Sail handling has been engineered for ease and efficiency across all conditions. The yacht features hydraulic in-mast furling, two hydraulic furling headsails, and a Code 0 furler, along with a gennaker for downwind work. Four electric winches and two manual winches, combined with hydraulic boom vang and backstay controls all operated from the cockpit, make the boat manageable for short-handed or single-handed sailing. Standing and running rigging were replaced in 2024, and the sails are balanced and responsive under way.
Below deck, a mahogany interior balances practicality with comfort. The owner's aft cabin has a centered double berth and private en-suite head with shower. Forward are two guest cabins—a V-berth forward and a generous double berth to port—sharing a guest head and separate shower. The layout includes a galley positioned along the centerline, a dedicated navigation station, and a saloon with seating for relaxation. Storage is abundant throughout.
The yacht has been continuously maintained and updated throughout her life. Recent upgrades include new lithium service batteries, updated standing and running rigging, replaced anchor chains, refreshed navigation electronics with Raymarine systems, and a new Fusion stereo. She is equipped with a Yanmar engine of approximately 1,100 hours, a 6kW generator, bow thruster, solar panels, SSB and satellite phone, electric toilets, washing machine, and liferaft. A bow and stern anchor windlass complete the offshore inventory.
