The 2012 Hinckley Runabout 38 is a composite-hulled cruising runabout powered by twin Volvo D6 diesel engines producing 870 horsepower combined. With a beam of 11 feet and length of 38 feet, the boat cruises at 32 knots and reaches speeds of 36 knots. The hull features DualGuard composite construction with Kevlar and carbon fiber reinforcement, finished in flag blue topsides with cream decks and non-skid. A custom stainless steel arch accommodates radar and spotlight, and teak finishes include the cockpit sole, handrails, and bow chocks.
The cockpit centers on twin powered Stidd helm seats with wrap-around windshield and triple settees amidships finished in Ultraleather. A hydraulically deployed convertible top in light oak fabric covers the helm and seating areas. Forward of the helm, the cabin features a V-berth with filler, galley with microwave and refrigeration, and head with shower. Interiors are finished in satin-varnished cherry with teak and tulipwood sole. The aft section includes a double sun pad with teak decking and a self-deploying lid providing access to the engine compartment.
Electronics include a Raymarine E120 chart plotter, 4kW Raymarine radar, Raymarine ST70 autopilot, and Horizon VHF radio. Power comes from 420 amp-hours of AGM battery capacity backed by three 80-amp alternators and a 9kW Northern Lights genset. Twin Volvo engines run 160 hours total. The boat carries three 12,000-BTU air conditioning units with reverse-cycle heat, automatic fire suppression, and comprehensive bilge pumping with float-switch automation.
Standard equipment includes electric windlass with anchor, bow and stern teak staffs, and the Hinckley JetStick steering control integrated with a 7-inch bow thruster for close-quarters maneuvering.
