2012 MJM 40z Downeast

This 2012 MJM 40z is a 44-foot downeast with twin Volvo Penta diesel engines producing 740 horsepower combined. The standout feature is the IPS pod drive system with joystick control, which allows precise maneuvering at idle speeds—a hallmark of the 40z design. The boat reaches 40 knots at top speed and cruises at 28 knots. It is built of fiberglass with a 12-foot beam.

The accommodations center on an owner stateroom with a large 60-by-78-inch island berth and separate shower. There is also a convertible guest cabin with an optional lowering dinette table, plus one head. The pilothouse benefits from sliding glass side windows and fully opening powered windshields for ventilation control. Side-opening cockpit doors on both port and starboard aid boarding and line handling.

The boat has received significant mechanical and cosmetic work in recent years. The engine long blocks were completely rebuilt in 2023, followed by a 1200-hour service. A new Northern Lights 6-kilowatt generator was installed in 2022. The topsides were repainted in 2020, and powered windshields were added in 2017 with sliding glass side windows in 2021. A new AB 9AL tender and Nautley dinghy davits were installed in 2022. The boat has been stored indoors and serviced by established local yards, and is ready for use.
