The 2012 Moody 45 DS is a 45-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built for extended cruising and comfortable living aboard. Powered by a 107 hp Volvo diesel engine, the boat features a full suite of modern sailing systems including electric mainsail and jib furlers, dual bow and stern thrusters, and an autopilot with remote control. Docking is simplified through a joystick system at both helms. The deck is finished in teak, with stainless steel railings and a teak cockpit.
The yacht offers two cabins and two heads, with an electric toilet in the bow cabin and a manual toilet in the guest cabin. The saloon includes an electronic throttle handle at the captain's table, navigation repeaters, and a Raymarine Axiom plotter with GPS. Climate control is provided by two separate air conditioning and heating units. Additional amenities include a generator, battery charger, inverter, and three refrigeration units—two integrated and one in a starboard locker. A wireless remote windlass, remote-controlled bathing platform, and radar on the mast complete the equipment list. Infrastructure for a watermaker has been pre-installed but not yet fitted.
Major systems have been extensively serviced and upgraded over recent years. In 2023, all through-hull valves were replaced, the steering system was rebuilt with renewed rudders, and a new propeller and shaft were installed. The 2024 season brought new Victron Lithium batteries, an upgraded Raymarine navigation system, and replacement of the engine intercooler. New performance sails were fitted in 2022 with all running rigging replaced in dyneema. The 2025 refit included a new life raft and hull wrap. Regular yearly maintenance is scheduled for March 2026 and includes antifouling, engine and generator service, and rigging inspection.
