This 55-foot by 23-foot boathouse was custom-built by CCY Marine and Platinum Marine to house mid-sized yachts. The structure features a solid timber frame of painted 2x6-inch lumber with plywood sheathing, reinforced by galvanized steel cladding on the perimeter and roof. Unpainted 2x8-inch fir planks form the walkways. The entrance stands nearly 20 feet high, with a door opening of 15 feet 10 inches between rollers (16 feet 2 inches with rollers removed), accommodating vessels with considerable draft and freeboard.
The interior width to the vertical framing is 22 feet 6 inches. A mezzanine measuring 13 feet by the full house width adds usable space overhead. The boathouse sits on an encapsulated, towable floatation system that allows relocation if needed. Electrical service includes 100-amp capacity with 30-amp shore power, all wiring run through PVC conduit with sealed junction boxes. Ten 8-foot double-tube fluorescent lights provide interior illumination, supplemented by three double receptacles on each walkway. Entry controls feature both manual and electric operation for the curtain.
The boathouse is positioned on the Fraser River in fresh water, which significantly reduces marine growth and fouling compared to salt water moorage. The slip measures 15 feet 2 inches wide by 52 feet long and is equipped with ten 12-inch galvanized steel mooring cleats. Fresh water moorage contributes to lower hull maintenance demands and extended longevity of stored vessels.
