This 2013 Custom Carriacou Sloop 42 is a wooden sailing yacht built using traditional boatbuilding methods handed down through generations of Caribbean craftsmen. At 42 feet long with a 12-foot beam, the boat carries a 60-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine and is rigged for sailing. The rig has been modified for easy two-person operation, and the mast and boom were replaced in 2020 with Canadian Douglas Fir by a specialist builder. The sloop is equipped with a Harken jib roller furler, two Lewmar 66ST primary winches, and sails by North Sails. Both wooden and steel tillers are aboard.
A complete refit was undertaken in 2016 by Woodstock Boatbuilders in Antigua, which included rebuilding the exterior and interior, installing new fuel and water tanks, and overhauling the electrical system. The interior departs from the open-plan design typical of most West Indies sloops, offering instead a finished cabin layout suitable for extended cruising and living aboard. The main accommodation features a spacious V-berth at the bow.
The yacht has been maintained on a daily basis by local shipwrights and hauled annually for servicing. The wooden hull and structural components were reinforced and strengthened as part of the refit work. Beyond the systems and sails noted above, the boat includes a simple electrical panel, engine panel, and a unique paint design.
