The Hallberg-Rassy 55 is a fiberglass offshore cruising yacht built for long-distance bluewater sailing. At 54.79 feet with a 15.52-foot beam, she combines heavy displacement with a well-protected center cockpit, a trademark Hallberg-Rassy design. The Volvo D4 diesel engine produces 180 horsepower and delivers a cruising speed of 8 knots via a three-blade Flexofold propeller. Twin thrusters forward and aft simplify maneuvering in confined spaces, while an electric windlass handles ground tackle. The rig features a Selden mast with triple spreaders swept back only three degrees for stability; a permanent cutter stay adds security for ocean crossings.
The interior holds three cabins and two heads across a single level. The owner's suite occupies the aft end with an ensuite to port. Forward is a twin cabin in the bow; a pullman berth sits to starboard. The saloon spans to starboard with a large settee and two folding chairs at the table, while two armchairs with a television occupy the port side. Abundant natural light enters through large tempered portlights and seven flush-mounted skylights. The deck layout keeps halyards on the mast, with four cockpit winches—three electric Lewmars and one manual—supporting easy sail handling.
Between 2018 and 2019, the owner upgraded the boat significantly. A North 3DI Endurance mainsail replaced the original sail; the electrical system was rebuilt with lithium batteries and Mastervolt components, including two 7-kilowatt combiners and a 10-kilowatt Whisper Power generator. A watermaker producing 240 liters, two 12,000–16,000 BTU air conditioning units, and two Webasto heaters were installed. Interiors received new upholstery, carpeting, and mattresses throughout. On deck, electrical davits, a Highfield 340 dinghy with a 9.8 Tohatsu engine, and various navigation and safety upgrades were added.
In 2025, the hull was sanded and repainted with Hempel Globic antifouling. The cutlass bearing was checked, anodes replaced, and the hull polished and waxed. All seacocks were serviced; both Webasto heaters and the bow and stern thrusters were serviced; and the rig was inspected. The boat carries spare parts and is equipped and ready for extended cruising.
