The 2014 Outremer 45 is a lightweight performance cruising catamaran built in composite with a focus on offshore capability and shallow-water access. With a 45-foot length and 23-foot beam, the design combines a powerful sail plan, efficient hull form, and daggerboards that deliver strong upwind performance while enabling anchoring in shallow waters. The boat was designed to cross oceans safely and quickly while maintaining the comfort of a liveaboard cruiser.
The three-cabin layout accommodates multiple crew or extended family, with two heads supporting the interior spaces. The salon is equipped with 16,000 BTU air conditioning and heating with removable ducting for zone control. A 100-liter-per-hour watermaker provides fresh water production, and a comprehensive electronics suite from B&G includes dual chartplotters, radar, AIS, autopilot, and wind instruments for confident passage making.
Power comes from twin Volvo Penta D1-30 engines, each delivering 30 horsepower. These were installed new in 2019 as part of a Volvo factory recall. The mast has been modified to achieve 64.5 feet of air draft, making the boat suitable for Intracoastal Waterway transit and opening most East Coast anchorages. A mid-mainsail section was reduced by three feet to lower center of effort, reducing pitching and improving offshore comfort. The boat carries a complete sail inventory including mainsail, self-tacking jib, gennaker, Code 0, and Code D.
