2015 Outremer 51

The Outremer 51 is a composite catamaran designed by Barreau and Neuman as the first model fully developed under Outremer Yachting. Built in 2015 and launched in 2016, this yacht embodies the brand's philosophy of a seaworthy yet light offshore cruiser. The design descends directly from the Outremer 49 and carries forward the vision of founder Gérard Danson while benefiting from the refinements of contemporary naval architecture. Two Volvo Penta diesel engines of 80 horsepower each provide propulsion.

The yacht is arranged with four cabins and features a panoramic saloon with exceptional visibility and natural ventilation. The protected cockpit flows naturally into the living spaces, while a large forward canopy creates a comfortable sheltered area at anchor. The layout prioritizes both function and light throughout the interior.

Technically, this catamaran stands out for its high-modulus carbon rotating mast by Lorima—a rare component that reduces weight and optimizes sail plan efficiency. The standing rigging is Kevlar, replaced in 2023. The sail wardrobe is comprehensive and well-maintained: mainsail from 2023, self-tacking jib from 2023, Code 0 from 2016, asymmetric spinnaker from 2016, and gennaker from 2019. This inventory covers all wind conditions while maintaining balance and performance across a range of sailing scenarios.

For extended offshore cruising, the boat is equipped with three 250-watt solar panels, a Watt&Sea Cruising 600 hydroelectric generator, Mastervolt lithium batteries of 180 ampere-hours each, and a Dessalator watermaker producing 100 liters per hour. These systems provide the energy independence and self-sufficiency essential for long-distance voyaging.
