The 2016 FarEast 28R is a high-performance racing sailboat built with vacuum-infused sandwich fiberglass construction and designed for competitive sailors and serious cruisers alike. The hull features a 1.75-meter canting keel with a carbon fin and lead bulb, paired with a carbon rudder and tiller extension. The deck is laid up in sandwich construction with anti-slip surface and reinforced fittings. A Selden aluminum mast with two swept spreaders supports the rig, which includes a Furlex roller jib, 1.75-meter bowsprit, and adjustable boom with outhaul and Cunningham controls.
The sail inventory is comprehensive and modern. The primary suit includes a RedRum mainsail in ZZ Black Technora, RedRum genua in matching cloth, and a RedRum nylon gennaker. Additional sails added in 2018 comprise a Wendel & Rados 110% jib, an A4 gennaker rated for 110–180°, and an A1 reacher rated for 60–140°. Standing rigging is Selden specification, while running lines include mainsheet with 4:1 and 16:1 tackles, and a 6:1 aft lower shroud adjuster.
Deck hardware is substantial and well-appointed: two Harken 35.2 jib sheet winches, a Harken 20 primary winch on the cabin top, a three-to-one mainsheet traveler, two genoa car tracks with sliders, and appropriate stopper blocks and cleats. A manual bilge pump is fitted in the cockpit. Power comes from a removable Suzuki four-stroke 6 hp outboard. Navigation and management electronics include a B&G plotter, echo sounder, speedometer, and wind indicator, with a solar panel for charging.
The boat has seen minimal use and has been sailed exclusively in freshwater. It is ready to sail immediately with no deferred maintenance.
