The 2016 F&S 40 Open Express is a 40-foot sportfish yacht built on a composite hull designed for both offshore fishing and extended cruising. Twin Cummins QSM11 diesel engines produce 1,430 horsepower combined, delivering a cruising speed of 31 knots and a maximum speed of 37 knots. The beam of 13.5 feet provides stability and working room on deck.
Below deck, the yacht offers a single cabin with one head, providing comfortable overnight accommodations. Joystick control enhances maneuverability in close quarters, while a windlass simplifies anchoring operations.
The yacht has received substantial recent upgrades. Twin Mercury Zeus pod drives were installed in July 2025 with a three-year warranty. A Seakeeper 6 gyroscopic stabilizer was installed in May 2022 and has accumulated 266 hours; the warranty extends through 2026. Navigation electronics include dual Garmin GPS MAP 8700 units installed in 2024 and dual 19-inch Hatteland monitors from 2025. Internet connectivity comprises KVH, DirecTV, and Starlink systems. The engines logged 1,200 hours as of their 1,000-hour service in May 2023. Six new batteries and a battery charger were installed in 2025. A Viking eight-person life raft was recharged in July 2025.
