The 2016 Knysna 500SE is a 50-foot fiberglass catamaran built for extended offshore cruising. Twin Yanmar 57hp diesel engines with sail drive transmission provide reliable propulsion, supported by a comprehensive energy setup: a 760Ah Mastervolt battery bank, dual high-output alternators, a 7kW Kohler generator, and solar panels for extended autonomy. The boat carries 600 liters of fuel and fresh water, plus dedicated waste capacity.
The owner version accommodates three guest cabins, each with ensuite heads, finished in light wood with custom soft furnishings. The galley is fully equipped with a 200-liter fridge-freezer combination, separate 90-liter freezer, ice maker, four-burner cooktop, full-size oven, and microwave. Additional systems include a 100-liter-per-hour water maker, reverse-cycle air conditioning with dual 16,000 BTU units, and a washing machine. A Garmin navigation suite covers chart plotting, radar, autopilot, and AIS, while communication includes VHF and Iridium-GO satellite capability.
The boat carries an extensive sail inventory: new 2024 NorthSails square-top mainsail with carbon battens, matching genoa, and a screecher with electric Profurl furler installed in 2025. Additional canvas includes an Ullman asymmetric spinnaker. Harken 12-volt electric winches handle sail operations. A Quick Alpha 1500-watt windlass serves ground tackle.
A 3.6-meter Infanta semi-rigid tender with 20hp Mercury four-stroke engine is included as equipment. The catamaran has been maintained in seasonal service and kept in dry storage during winter months.
