The Krogen 58 EB is a full-displacement bluewater trawler built to handle serious offshore cruising. Twin John Deere diesel engines produce 320 horsepower total and operate at a cruising speed of approximately nine knots, with a maximum speed near ten knots. The hull is solid fiberglass below the waterline with blister-resistant vinylester resins, reinforced with aramid fiber in the stem and stern areas. Above the waterline, the construction combines Knytex and Airex core material. The superstructure uses Divinycell cores to minimize print-through. Teak covers the aft and side decks, while the boat and fore decks feature non-skid GripTex finish. The interior throughout is custom teak, including four-inch-wide plank flooring with spruce inlays.
Accommodations include a master stateroom forward with a queen-size island berth, an ensuite head with an oversized shower, and a guest stateroom aft with its own head. A third head serves as a day head in the pilothouse. The galley features marble countertops, stainless steel appliances including a Bluestar range and KitchenAid refrigerator, and connects via a Dutch door to a separate pantry. The main saloon has an L-shaped settee with expandable hi-lo table and opens to a dedicated office space. The pilothouse serves as the command center with watchberth and day head, while the flybridge includes a wet bar and summer kitchen with built-in propane grill.
Comprehensive systems support extended cruising: the 25-kilowatt Northern Lights generator powers dual air-conditioning units, a 400-gallon water tank with 120-volt fresh water pump, a Parker Hannifin watermaker, and 23 AGM batteries capable of running the air-conditioning system independently. Hydraulic bow and stern thrusters provide station keeping, paired with an ABT Trac stabilization system with nine-square-foot fins. The fuel system includes four aluminum tanks with dual Racor filters and a fuel polishing pump. Shaft, rudder, and propeller are bronze and stainless steel; props were balanced and refurbished in 2025.
Electronics received comprehensive upgrades in 2025: dual Furuno TZ-Touch2 chartplotters in the pilothouse, dual TZ-Touch3 units on the flybridge, dual autopilots, 24-inch solid-state radar, AIS Class A transponder, and Starlink internet. The boat includes a Furuno ultrasonic weather station, docking cameras with BoatView system, FLIR thermal camera, and six-camera docking system. Recent additions include new hydraulic clutches, cutlass bearings, freshwater pump, shaft seal, propeller work, batteries, watch berth upholstery, teak cap rail, and bottom paint. A tender with new 15-horsepower Mercury outboard and fuel tank is included.
