The MJM 40z is a 40-foot downeast designed to balance serious performance cruising with day-boat appeal. Twin Volvo diesel engines deliver 870 horsepower, pushing the boat to a top speed of 37 knots while cruising efficiently at 29 knots. The joystick control system simplifies handling at the dock. A 12-foot beam and compact profile keep the yacht maneuverable and easy to transport.

The single-cabin layout includes one head and is organized around a unified deck level with just two steps down to the cabin interior, prioritizing ease of movement throughout the boat. The cockpit design emphasizes social cruising alongside extended-range capability, making it adaptable to both day trips and longer voyages.

This 2017 example comes equipped with Volvo IPS 600 propulsion, a SeaLift platform, electric windshields, and composite teak decking.
