2017 Outremer 5X

The 2017 Outremer 5X is the flagship model of the French builder's range, designed by VPLP naval architects and recognised as European Yacht of the Year. At nearly 59 feet with a 28-foot beam, this composite catamaran combines lightweight construction with offshore capability, built to handle sustained passages and managed comfortably by a small crew. Twin Volvo Penta diesel engines with saildrives and folding propellers provide auxiliary power, while a carbon mast, forward beam, bimini and davits reduce weight aloft. Her sail wardrobe includes working sails, Code Zero and Code D options for versatile wind conditions.

The accommodation follows a two-hull layout with the port hull dedicated to the owner's suite and the starboard hull holding guest cabins, creating space and privacy unusual in performance cruising catamarans. The main saloon features an adaptable central table and excellent natural light. Amenities include diesel heating, substantial refrigeration, hot pressurised water, an integrated washing machine and a high-capacity watermaker for independence at anchor. Navigation systems combine Raymarine and B&G instrumentation with radar, AIS, dual autopilots and long-range communications including Starlink.

Energy systems are comprehensive for offshore cruising: a substantial lithium battery bank, powerful inverter, extensive solar capacity and a Watt&Sea hydrogenerator support prolonged passages. Hull protection consists of multiple layers of Coppercoat applied in 2023. Ground tackle and safety systems are sized for Category A ocean certification, reflecting her design intent for serious bluewater work.

This hull, number 18, was launched in 2017 and has remained with its original German owners since delivery. The yacht is presently maintained without backlog and ready for immediate use, positioned in the Canary Islands as a natural departure point for Atlantic and Mediterranean passages.
