The Atlantic 70 is a performance cruising catamaran built to cover distance efficiently and safely. Designed by Chris White and completed in 2018, Saphira demonstrates what the concept delivers: the boat averages speeds over 20 knots and has logged approximately 265 nautical miles daily across seven seasons of offshore cruising. The long, narrow hulls and high bridge deck clearance create a comfortable motion in seaway conditions while the beam, weight, and sail area track closer to a 55 to 60-foot performance catamaran than a traditional 70-footer, making Saphira responsive rather than cavernous.

The 70-foot composite hulls prioritize sea-kindliness and performance over interior volume. The owners shaped Saphira's design throughout the build process, and their input shows in practical details aimed at ease of handling and livability — priorities refined across 175,000 miles of personal sailing history, including a circumnavigation that rounded Cape Horn and ventured into Arctic waters.

Over seven seasons of cruising, Saphira has traveled approximately 25,000 miles from Rhode Island through the Caribbean, across the Panama Canal, up the Central American coast to San Diego, and into French Polynesia. The boat carries an extensive list of equipment and spares suited to extended ocean voyaging. A single diesel engine provides auxiliary power.
