This 2018 Cobalt R5 Surf is a 50-year anniversary edition built for the Atlanta Boat Show. The 25-foot fiberglass hull runs a single Volvo Penta 380-horsepower engine with Forward Duo Prop drive, delivering twin counter-rotating props positioned well under the boat for efficient operation and control. The boat's defining feature is its automated surf system: bi-axis surf tabs that adjust electronically at the touch of a button to create optimum wake on either side, eliminating the need to manually transfer ballast between tanks.
The R5 Surf handles multiple uses with ease. In Performance Mode, the surf tabs deploy and adjust automatically to help the boat get on plane quickly even with full ballast loaded. The ride remains soft and dry across the speed range, with full-range power trim for customization whether surfing, wakeboarding, or cruising. GPS-directed cruise control maintains desired speed. The boat carries full ballast tank capacity, dual wakeboard tow balls (port and starboard), and wakeboard racks.
The interior combines Tahoe grey upholstery with stainless steel accents and SST trim details. A teak dinette table sits above the cockpit sunpad base, with LED accent lighting throughout. The cockpit and swim platform feature aquamarine decking. Equipment includes a Garmin GPSMAP 7607 glass dash, premium sound system with transom and arch speakers, dual battery switch, air compressor, 110-volt battery charger, pump-out head, and tonneau covers for both bow and cockpit.
The boat shows minimal wear, with 256 total hours logged. It has been kept in fresh water in a covered indoor slip and maintained as an adult-owned boat.
