This 2018 Cobalt R5 Surf is a 25-foot fiberglass ski and wake boat powered by a single Volvo V8 gasoline engine producing 350 horsepower. The boat features Cobalt's automated surf system with electronically controlled Bi-Axis Surf Tabs that deploy and adjust at the push of a button to shape the wake for surfing on either side without requiring manual ballast transfers. A Performance Mode automatically deploys the tabs for improved hole-shot acceleration and planing, even when ballast tanks are full.

The boat is built around versatile water sports capability. The Volvo Forward Drive uses counter-rotating propellers positioned forward under the hull to optimize performance and handling. Full-range power trim gives the driver control for customizing the wake characteristics for surfing, wakeboarding, or smooth cruising. GPS-directed cruise control is integrated into the system for maintaining desired speeds.
