Built by Brodosplit in 2019, this 531-foot ice-class sailing ship is the largest sailing vessel ever launched. Designed as a five-mast barque with a classic profile inspired by the legendary French windjammer France II, she combines traditional sailing aesthetics with modern engineering and comfort. Her steel hull and ice classification enable operation in Arctic and Antarctic waters as well as worldwide cruising.
The ship accommodates 324 passengers across 150 cabins arranged in five categories: suites, deluxe balcony staterooms, and ocean view cabins. All cabins are outside-facing with natural light. Suites offer 570 square feet with separate living and dining areas, walk-in wardrobes, and dual bathrooms; balcony staterooms provide 237 square feet with sofa beds; ocean view cabins measure 129 square feet with twin or queen configurations. The crew quarters include 71 cabins for up to 165 staff. A three-deck dining venue anchors the social spaces, alongside five bars and lounges, a thermal spa with sauna and steam facilities, gym, library, boutique, and theater. Three pools sit on the upper decks, including a dedicated diving pool. A drop-down marina platform at the stern provides water sports access with kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear.
The five-mast barque rig spans 6,347 square meters of sail area, with all sails controlled by hydraulic roller-furling systems and electro-hydraulic winches. Four diesel engines—two Caterpillar 3516s and two 3512s totaling 10,586 horsepower—drive two feathering propellers through 3,300-kilowatt electric motors. Speed reaches 17 knots under power and 16 to 20 knots under sail, with a 5,800-nautical-mile range under power. A 580-kilowatt bow thruster and dual rudders enhance maneuverability. All machinery and systems are engineered for minimal noise and vibration.
The ship holds DNV-GL class notation and features the "Safe Return to Port" security system with duplicated engine rooms, power generation, water production, and fuel systems. Navigation and communication systems are fully modern. All accommodations include television, telephone, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity. Six lifeboats and eight life rafts meet international safety standards.
