2019 Custom Southwell Sovereign 51

The Southwell Sovereign 51 is a 2019 custom aluminium sailing yacht built by Nebe Boatbuilders South Africa. At just over 50 feet with a 14.76-foot beam, she combines substantial cruising capability with refined interior finishing. The hull is fully insulated with fire-retardant foam and finished throughout with marine-grade materials. Power comes from a 100-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine with 110 hours recorded as of March 2025, driving a 23-inch three-bladed prop and paired with a KM4 gearbox. Fuel capacity totals 1000 litres across three integrated aluminium tanks.

The rigging is comprehensive and modern: a Sparcraft aluminium mast and boom with twin Profurl roller-furling units, stainless cable rigging, and a foldaway bowsprit. Four Ullman sails—main with lazy-jacks, roller-furling genoa, gennaker, and staysail—are managed by nine winches from Anderson and Lewmar, including self-tailing primaries and secondaries. Steering is hydraulic via Lewmar Whitlock Cobra wheel with a bow thruster and B&G P-3C autopilot.

Below deck, three cabins sleep six across two doubles and four singles, with an additional double berth formed by a folding saloon table. Two heads, two showers, and teak-and-holly flooring throughout create a spacious, well-appointed interior with excellent headroom. The galley features a three-burner Smev stove, oven, microwave, fridge, and freezer. Water capacity is 1300 litres in integrated tanks; pressurised hot and cold systems are fed by a calorifier, with nine bilge pumps for safety.

Electronics are extensive: dual VHF radios, SSB, three Garmin GPS plotters, Garmin radar, Raymarine instruments, and a Victron inverter-charger paired with a Honda generator and four solar panels. The boat carries a full complement of safety gear including an eight-person life raft, electric windlass with chain counter, and dual anchors. A 2.5-metre GRP tender with davits, transom shower, high-pressure deck-wash, full cockpit enclosure, and a gas BBQ complete the inventory.
