2019 Ocean Explorer Catamarans 60

The Ocean Explorer 60 is a German Frers-designed performance catamaran built by Ocean Quality Systems in Finland. Delivered in 2019, this 60.7-foot composite hull combines efficient hydrodynamic design with Finnish craftsmanship. The hull features vacuum-infused E-glass construction with carbon and titanium reinforcements, curved carbon daggerboards, and retractable carbon rudders that reduce draught to less than 80 centimetres, enabling shallow-water exploration. Twin Yanmar 4JH80 diesel engines drive the boat through Saildrive gearboxes and FlexoFold propellers, supported by a retractable bow thruster and remote engine control via Yacht Controller Maximo.

The interior accommodates four cabins and four heads, with the owner's suite finished in light oak and three ensuite double cabins plus a crew cabin. The layout emphasizes natural light and open sight lines, with 360-degree visibility throughout the saloon and navigation station positioned forward of the mast. The galley is well-appointed with gas stove, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, multiple refrigeration options, icemaker, and washing machine. A 70,000 BTU reverse-cycle air-conditioning system, 18 square metres of solar panels, 12-kilowatt Fischer Panda generator with unused spare, and Li-ion battery banks with Mastervolt chargers and inverter support extended cruising. Electrical systems include both 220-volt 50Hz and 110-volt 60Hz capability.

The sailing rig comprises a Lorima carbon mast and boom with composite standing rigging, hydraulic mainsheet traveller, and hydraulic jib furler. The sail plan includes new North Sails 3DI main, A2, J0, J1, J2, and J3, with original 3DL ocean sails still available. Navigation and communication equipment includes B&G H5000 with Zeus3 plotters, broadband radar, AIS, autopilot, Iridium satellite phone, and Starlink.

Recent comprehensive refitting in 2024 and 2025 included new standing rigging, new sails, new running rigging, new non-skid deck finish, ceramic-coated rig, new electronic engine throttles, new wind instruments, new bow thruster, new generator, new air-conditioning pump, and new antifouling. The boat is equipped with a custom carbon davit and ABD aluminium console RIB tender.
