2019 Viking 38 Billfish

The 2019 Viking 38 Billfish is a 38-foot sportfish built on a fiberglass hull with twin Cummins QSB6.7 diesel engines rated at 550 horsepower each. The boat combines tournament-style fishing capability with comfortable cruising accommodations, featuring a modified vinylester resin hull with end-grain balsa and closed-cell foam coring for strength and stiffness. The single integral fuel tank is sealed and resin-infused with balsa coring.

The 109-square-foot cockpit is fitted with in-deck insulated fish boxes, a walk-through transom door and lift gate, bait freezer, transom fish box, and live well. Rod holders and tackle storage are integrated throughout, with fresh water and raw-water wash downs available. The cockpit includes two-person seating flanking a centerline walkway, refrigerated drink storage, and general storage space. A tournament-style center console helm sits on the flybridge with Palm Beach controls and power-assist hydraulic steering, flanked by a single Release Marine teak chair and lounges to port and starboard under a three-sided Costa Clear enclosure.

Below deck, the command deck includes a salon-style living area with a port-side U-shaped dinette, fiberglass hi-lo table, and a starboard lounge with rod storage. The forward stateroom and L-shaped galley support overnight use, with a head and enclosed shower. Two hanging lockers and either an island queen or crossover berth arrangement provide sleeping flexibility. Engine access is simplified through electrically-actuated hatches in the command deck, and the engine room, lazarette, and forward bilges are painted with snow white Awlgrip. Equipment includes a 9kW generator, Delta-T engine room ventilation, automatic fire suppression tied to engine ignition, and optional Seakeeper SK 6 gyro stabilizer. Running gear consists of class-S propellers with dynamic balancing and bronze struts, seacocks, and rudders.
