The 2020 Blackfin 242 is a 24-foot 6-inch center console built on a fiberglass hull with a 22-degree deadrise. Twin Yamaha 150 hp engines, tuned to 200 hp and logged at 800 hours, power the boat. The hull carries a fuel capacity of 140 gallons and accommodates up to 12 persons with a weight capacity of 2,100 pounds.
The boat is rigged for serious fishing. A pressurized livewell on the port stern feeds two large in-floor macerated fish boxes with pump-outs. Ten rod holders mount to the gunwales and eight to the hardtop and leaning post. A tackle rigging station, fresh and raw water wash-down system, and TACO outrigger bases with Gemlux 18-foot carbon fiber outriggers complete the fishing setup.
Electronics and navigation gear have been upgraded and expanded over time. Original equipment includes a Garmin 8612xsv and Garmin VHF315 marine radio, paired with an upgraded Fusion and JL Audio stereo system. Added in 2023 were a Garmin 943xsv display, Garmin GHC50 auto-pilot with touchscreen, an Airmar B175HW transducer, and a Garmin GT52HW ClearVu and SideVu transducer. In 2026, a Garmin Reactor 40 auto-pilot was installed along with a new Seastar hydraulic steering assist pump.
