2021 Balance 526

The 2021 Balance 526 is a 52-foot composite catamaran designed by naval architect Anton du Toit, built to winning specifications that have made the model renowned for bluewater performance and comfort. The boat features wave-piercing reverse-raked bows, captive daggerboards for shallow-water capability, and a sail plan engineered for light-wind performance. Two Yanmar 4JH57 diesel engines of 57 horsepower each drive the boat through folding Gori propellers, with 1,300 hours logged. The 526 combines the seaworthiness and handling of a dedicated offshore cruiser with the space and stability of a catamaran platform.

The interior is finished in zebrawood and white with tobacco oak flooring throughout. The starboard hull houses the owner's suite with a forward king-size cabin, large head, and shower. The port hull provides guest accommodations in a forward cabin and convertible aft cabin with split berth that converts to a full bed, along with a large shared head and separate shower. The salon features a U-shaped settee with walnut drop-leaf table that converts to additional sleeping space, and the galley is fully equipped with modern appliances and ergonomic layout. Both forepeaks offer dedicated storage and functionality, including a workshop area with workbench and vice in the starboard forepeak.

The boat carries an extensive suite of systems. Power comes from dual Integrel chargers with 18 kilowatts capacity, a 48-volt Victron lithium battery bank, and 3,200 watts of solar generation via eight panels with individual regulators. Water production is handled by a Spectra Cape Horn Extreme watermaker. Climate control includes Frigomar air conditioning throughout. Navigation equipment comprises a full B&G suite with dual autopilots and thermal imaging. Communications include Starlink internet, Iridium satellite phone, and Peplink LTE with weather routing capability. The sails are new or recent: a 2025 main, staysail, storm jib, two code zeros, and two spinnakers.

The boat has been sailed extensively in the Caribbean and along the U.S. East Coast under professional captain management. Regular maintenance records document engine and saildrive service, a new lithium battery installation, fresh antifoul, and ongoing care consistent with bluewater standards. Carbon upgrades include wheel, stanchions, grab handles, and dock line chafe protection. Additional features include electric barbecue, cockpit hammock pad eyes, sunshade awnings, and surfboard stowage.
