The 2021 Castoldi Jet Tender 16 is an 18-foot runabout built on a hard-chine deep V hull with 22-degree deadrise, engineered specifically for waterjet propulsion. The single-skin fiberglass hull uses hand-laid Kevlar and vinylester resin, while the deck and console employ sandwich construction with glass and polyester skin over nidaplast core. Stringer reinforcement uses the same sandwich method with polyurethane foam backing. Spray rails and a spray-rail design manage water flow in varied conditions.
Propulsion comes from a single Yanmar Marine diesel engine producing 228 horsepower, paired with a Castoldi TD 224 DD waterjet unit. The jet features a Kevlar duct and stainless steel impeller for efficient shallow-water operation. The boat reaches 22 knots maximum and cruises at 30 knots. Deck equipment includes inflatable tubes made from Hypalon and Neoprene-coated polyester in five separate airtight compartments, with quick connect and disconnect fittings for easy deployment.
Built to CE Directive specifications for eight passengers, this tender is a purpose-built utility craft suited to rapid transit and tender duties where jet propulsion offers operational advantages.
