2021 Class 40 Pogo S4

The 2021 Pogo S4 V2 is a Class 40 racing yacht designed by Guillaume Verdier and built from composite. Hull number 172, it was launched in August 2021 and has competed extensively, including a third-place finish at the 2021 Transat Jacques Vabre. The boat measures 40 feet overall with a 14.5-foot beam.

The yacht has undergone substantial evolution and renewal work. In 2022, the structure was reinforced by Structures as part of service upgrades, with further performance enhancements directed by Michel Desjoyaux. The design was refined with a new V2 keel featuring an advanced anti-drift center and thinned keel blade, forward ballast compartmentalization, and new deck balconies with spinnaker sheet blocks positioned high to increase working areas and versatility.

Recent major refits completed in 2024 include a new Z carbon mast with two-stage spreaders and carbon headstay, new standing rigging by Rod Navtec, and new running rigging and bastaques by Den Ran. The engine—a new Lombardini unit—was installed in November 2024, along with new hull treatment and antifouling in December 2024. Electronics comprise Madintec systems with dual autopilot lines, 397 watts of solar panels, Iridium Certus and Iridium Go satellite communications, a marinized fixed computer, and new Starlink equipment. An optional new sail set by Incidences and Technique Voiles is available. The boat is registered at 321 kilograms of righting moment per the 2023 rating.
