The 2021 Elling E6 is a 65-foot expedition motor yacht built with a composite, Kevlar-reinforced hull designed for long-distance ocean cruising. Powered by twin Volvo Penta diesel engines producing 970 horsepower, she achieves a cruising speed of 15 knots with a range of 700 nautical miles, or 2,500 nautical miles at 9 knots. The yacht carries 1,320 gallons of fuel and features a self-righting hull and Category CE A certification, making her capable of serious offshore work in remote waters.
The pilothouse provides 360-degree visibility and serves as the main gathering space, with comfortable seating for up to 12 on the upper deck. Below are three separate staterooms, each with ensuite heads. The interior includes a hermetically sealed electric opening sunroof and separate diesel and electric heating and air-conditioning systems to support operation across varied climates.
Redundancy is built throughout: dual engine setups include a primary Volvo D13 and a get-home Volvo D2, each with its own fuel polishing system. The yacht carries a Northern Lights 12-kilowatt generator and separate windlasses and lithium battery banks. A SeaKeeper 9 gyroscopic stabilizer manages motion. A Williams tender garage houses a Williams TurboJet325 jet tender for exploration. These systems and the yacht's overall design prepare her for extended expeditions with minimal crew.
