2021 J Boats J/112E

The J/112E is a 36-foot fiberglass performance cruiser built for both distance cruising and competitive sailing. The design combines a V-shaped bow with forward freeboard and topside flare to reduce slamming and keep the deck dry, while the long waterline and low vertical center of gravity deliver a smooth, sea-kindly motion. The moderate displacement hull pairs with a high-aspect, non-overlapping sailplan that performs efficiently across a wide wind range—from light air where many boats motor, to 25 knots and beyond. The mainsail and 105% jib alone provide capable sailing in most conditions, with an asymmetric spinnaker on a retractable carbon sprit available for downwind work.

Below, the two-cabin layout offers comfortable accommodation for extended cruising. The cockpit is designed with ergonomics in mind, balancing day-sailing comfort with the demands of longer passages or rough weather. The J/112E is noted for its ability to sail effectively under mainsail alone, jib alone, or any combination of the two—qualities that make her as well-suited to solo or short-handed sailing as to a full crew.
