The MJM 53z is a 53-foot fiberglass motor yacht built in 2021 with twin 1600-horsepower Mercury gasoline engines. Designed by Doug Zurn and constructed by Boston Boatworks, this Downeast-inspired yacht balances open entertainment areas with private accommodations and refined engineering throughout.
The interior centers on a unified pilothouse and aft cockpit connected on a single level, creating expansive space for cruising and entertaining. Cherry joinery with satin-varnished paneling, teak cabin soles inlaid with wenge, and custom removable sole covers define the joinery work. The galley to port includes Corian countertops, a Vitrifrigo stainless refrigerator with freezer, Wolf induction cooktop, and Breville toaster oven, with skylights and opening portlights providing natural light. The guest cabin starboard features a double berth with memory foam mattress, fold-down desk, and upholstered reading chair with private access to the guest head. Forward lies a full-beam master cabin with an island queen berth, reading chair, cherry desk, hanging lockers on each side, and a private ensuite head with glass-enclosed shower. Both heads feature Corian counters, Dometic electric toilets with freshwater flush, and showers with seats. The pilothouse includes helm and passenger seats, U-shaped seating with table to starboard, and a full-length settee to port with opening windshields and side windows. The aft cockpit features a fixed settee and two movable matching seats surrounding a teak table, with side entry doors and transom doors on each side leading to the swim platform.
Recent updates include new Mercury quad outboards with extended warranties, updated Garmin navigation electronics, new canvas and interior fabrics, aft deck teak sole, deck non-skid, and custom fitted bedspreads, mattress covers, and accent pillows throughout the cabins.
