The Outremer 55 is a bluewater cruising catamaran built in 2021 and designed in collaboration with VPLP architects. At just under 55 feet with a 27-foot beam, she combines lightweight composite construction with efficient hull design intended for offshore sailing. Twin Volvo Penta diesel engines of 120 horsepower each provide propulsion, while a carbon rotating mast and carbon crossbeam reduce weight and optimize performance under sail. The boat carries a full suit of Hydranet sails by Incidence, less than two years old, and is equipped with five electric winches for straightforward sail handling.
Navigation and power management reflect serious cruising intent. A complete B&G electronics suite supports offshore passagemaking, while 2050 watts of solar panels and a Fischer Panda 10000i generator provide extended autonomy away from marinas. Air conditioning in the saloon and owner cabin adds comfort in warmer climates. The systems throughout have been selected for genuine long-term voyaging rather than occasional use.
The interior layout follows Outremer's design philosophy of practical, bright spaces with good ventilation, generous storage, and durable finishes. The arrangement suits both families and extended passages, with natural movement and easy daily routines whether underway or at anchor. The balance between sailing performance and living comfort makes her equally capable of fast ocean crossings and peaceful anchorages.
This 2021 example has completed offshore passages including participation in the GLYWO rally and has recently undergone refit. She is fully prepared and equipped for immediate departure, requiring no further upgrades for serious cruising.
