2021 Penobscot Boat Works 17
About This Yacht
This 2021 Penobscot 17 is a handcrafted wooden sailing yacht completed in July of that year. The boat features glued-lapstrake mahogany marine plywood construction with Sitka spruce spars and oars, following a design by Arch Davis. It is rigged as a two-masted schooner with balanced lug sails, an uncommon configuration for this model size. The sails were made by Dabbler Sails and remain in excellent condition.
The boat has seen minimal use since completion, with only a handful of sailing outings in freshwater conditions. It has been stored indoors in a garage throughout its life, which has protected the wooden hull and fittings. Complete rigging is included, along with a professionally built custom trailer.
The yacht is fully water-ready and functional as-is. The mahogany lapstrake construction and epoxy encapsulation reflect careful traditional wooden boat building. While in very good overall condition, minor finishing details remain for those who wish to refine the wooden boat further.
