This 2022 Balance 442 is a composite catamaran built for serious cruising. At 44 feet long with a 25-foot beam, she combines high-performance sailing with comfortable liveaboard accommodations. Power comes from twin 80-horsepower Yanmar diesel engines. The design incorporates Balance's signature construction techniques using E-glass fiberglass with carbon fiber reinforcement in high-load areas, vacuum-bagged over closed-cell foam cores to create a lightweight, stiff hull.
The three-cabin owner's layout provides spacious living for extended voyaging. Two heads service the accommodations. The catamaran is equipped with an extensive inventory of modern systems: a 48V Victron lithium house battery bank, dual 9kW Integrel charging systems on the engines, 1,600 watts of solar panels, and a Spectra Cape Horn watermaker. Climate control throughout includes DC high-efficiency air conditioning and heating units capable of running directly off batteries.
Sailing performance is delivered through an Ullman performance sail package with screecher and Oxley spinnaker, plus carbon fiber reinforced daggerboards. Navigation and safety are covered by a full Garmin electronics suite featuring autopilot, radar, and AIS. Additional onboard equipment includes a Samsung washer and dryer, and the boat carries a comprehensive suite of modern cruising gear. Regular maintenance was recently completed.
