The XFC-22 is a high-performance catboat built in 2022 by Arey's Custom Boats, designed to blend classic catboat character with modern racing capability. At 22 feet with a 10.5-foot beam, she combines traditional styling with contemporary materials and engineering. Her carbon fiber mast and bowsprit support a Quantum Thurston full-batten mainsail paired with a roller-furling staysail and gennaker, giving her versatile sail handling for both cruising and competitive sailing. A 14 hp Beta diesel engine provides auxiliary power.
The boat features a self-bailing cockpit, tiller extension, and jiffy reefing system for practical day sailing and racing. Below, there is an interior double berth with cushions. Navigation and safety equipment include a Garmin GPS, depth sounder, knot meter, running lights, spotlight, and horn, along with all required safety gear. She comes with a swim ladder, dock lines, fenders, and a 2023 Load Rite 5-Star dual-axle trailer.
The XFC-22's design proved itself immediately after launch, earning Best in Show at the WoodenBoat Show in Mystic. Her modest size and trailerable construction make her accessible for regional events while maintaining the performance characteristics valued in competitive catboat racing.
