2022 Outremer 5X

The 2022 Outremer 5X Cyan is a 60-foot composite catamaran designed by VPLP for extended offshore voyaging. Built with a carbon mast, Kevlar shrouds, and carbon bulkheads reinforced with high-density foam, the hull is engineered for exceptional seakeeping and durability. Twin 150-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel engines power the boat, which carries a full suit of sails including a mainsail with solent, Code 0, gennaker, and asymmetric spinnaker on roller furlers, with capability for symmetric spinnaker rigging. Four helm stations—two wheel and two tiller, all carbon—are protected by a carbon bimini, and three electric winches manage sail handling. The cockpit features an L-shaped settee, table, barbecue, and integrated refrigerator-freezer.

Below deck, the four-cabin, two-head layout combines comfort with functionality. The galley includes gas and induction cooktop, oven, large refrigerator, double sink, abundant stowage, and Corian countertops. Accommodations feature air conditioning, Webasto heating, LED lighting, and multiple ventilation fans. A Fischer Panda 8000i generator, Duo 100L/h watermaker, and washer-dryer provide self-sufficiency at anchor or underway.

Navigation systems are comprehensive and redundant: dual 12-inch B&G Zeus 3S displays, H5000 autopilot, AIS, B&G VHF, radar, mast cameras, ForwardScan sonar, Seatronic system with TimeZone, 32-inch navigation display, Iridium GO, and Starlink. A secondary Raymarine/Simrad autopilot ensures backup capability.

Power management centers on 2024-new Mastervolt lithium batteries (2×6000W), 800-watt solar panels on the davits, 820-watt array on the bimini, a 5000-watt inverter, 24V 110-amp alternators, and Mastervolt charger. The tender is a Highfield 360 with a Mercury 20-horsepower EFI outboard. Safety gear includes an 8-person life raft, EPIRB and GPS beacons, backup anchor, spare rigging, and extra consumables.
