2022 Sunpower 44 VIP

The Sunpower 44 VIP is a 2022 electric catamaran built in fiberglass, measuring 44 feet in length with a 23.62-foot beam. It features a fully integrated solar electric propulsion system—solar panels mounted on the roof power battery banks that drive electric motors for quiet, emission-free cruising at typical speeds of 4 to 6 knots, with a theoretical range of up to 100 kilometers per day depending on conditions and power usage.

The solar system provides electricity to all onboard systems and appliances including refrigeration, cooking equipment, water makers, lighting, television, and air conditioning. The boat carries two heads and includes a water maker capable of producing up to 3,000 liters of drinking water daily. All batteries and electric motors are housed internally and protected from the marine environment, with corrosion-resistant materials used throughout and marine-grade wiring and connectors throughout.

The catamaran requires virtually no engine maintenance, and operating costs are significantly lower than conventionally powered boats of similar size. Solar panels are backed by a 25-year warranty; battery banks carry an 8-year warranty.
